Good evening, this is Nakachi from Pint!
This is the second part of my recent Mie-Shiga-Kyoto trip.
On the second day, Shiga Prefecture went to Hirudani.
A wooden plate turned by a potter's wheel, which is currently being produced as a sample. (Scheduled to be released later this month)
The craftsman that Pint! is currently using is in Nagano prefecture.
This Hirudani is said to be the area where the manufacturing of so-called wood-turned products began.
I visited, but the museum I was looking for was closed, probably because it was a day off.
I didn't have an appointment, so when I took a walk around the area, I heard the sound of sawing wood from a workshop.
A woodturner was sawing wood on a potter's wheel in a small workshop.
Now retired, he seems to grind the potter's wheel at his own pace from time to time.
About Pint!
He invited me to his house and we talked for a while.
About this area, about work, about life...
I was able to hear a lot of history, various thoughts, and valuable stories.
It was such a pleasure to meet you and have such a wonderful time.
And I received a cherry tree vessel that was sawed the other day.
I received a small vessel on top.
The bottom tray is a well-used cherry tree tray.
It's the same cherry tree, even though it's a different tree.
When you use it, it seems to darken to about this tray.
I would like to use the treasures you gave me a lot, and someday I would like to make them as dark as this.
And to show you that, I would like to visit again.
