[Event Report] Everyone's Tool vol.0 (Kaguko Lab) Vol.4 ~Lacquer Painting~

The shape was decided in the previous 3rd time , but the sample wood base (unpainted, the inside was ground) has been completed!
Thank you, Mr. Ogura.
First of all, the presentation and sample check with everyone.

It's actually taking shape, and we're finally in the final stages of product planning.
This time it's "painting". Lacquerware painted with a technique called rubbing lacquer. It is a technique of rubbing lacquer onto a wooden vessel as if wiping it over and over again.

We ask a lacquerer in Yamanaka, Ishikawa Prefecture, who is famous for wiping lacquer. Since craftsmen were not able to come, Pint! Nakaji introduced lacquer painting. I think there are a lot of people who know the word lacquer but don't really know who it is.

Lacquer is also called "Japan" and has been used in Japan since ancient times. Urushi tree sap. The sap is so strong that people get a rash when they touch it, but it is resistant to heat and water. The strongest natural coating agent. It is said to have been used since the Jomon period.

It must have been used as a tree sap that has a mysterious power. I will omit it here, but I told everyone about it.
Color is a problem. With fuki-lacquer, the colors are layered by wiping many times.

At Pint!, we do not mix pigments to bring out the colors, so we use a combination of unrefined lacquer, black lacquer, and red lacquer to bring out the colors.

We all thought about the colors based on the color samples that had been made by a special request from a lacquerer.
This was the time I was most worried because the strength and function did not change depending on the color.

Discussions centered around how we wanted to use them at the dining table, what we wanted to serve, and what tableware to combine with.

We were even kindly asked to match the color of the soup bowls and rice bowls that are already on sale at Pint! Since it is a manufacturing plan for the purpose, I told you not to think about it at all.
A Japanese dining table with a mix of western and Japanese tableware.

In my family, the dining table is like this, so I want to use this dish in this way, and I want to use it in this combination.
Everyone has an opinion, and the color will naturally be narrowed down.
Finally decided on the leftmost brown color. The atmosphere is elegant and soft. A light color that is not too heavy was chosen so that you would want to use it every day.

The color has been decided, and the specifications are finally finalized. It's been a long road, but we're finally here. After that, I will ask the lacquerer and wait for the delivery.

After this, we will actually use the vessels for the delivery, the unveiling, and the potluck party. Looking forward to the final episode in December!
