Small bowl of Tokyo cypress | Urethane finish
This bowl was made for an event at the Isetan Shinjuku store the other day.
It is a bowl made using Japanese cypress from Tokyo. Japanese cypress bowls used to be valued as luxury items in the past, but nowadays it is difficult to find good wood, so they are rarely seen. This bowl is introduced in detail on the product page above, but it was revived by taking over the bowl from 10 years ago, which was finished up to the middle process of rough grinding. Even after talking with the lumber mill, it is difficult to procure such tall solid wood from thinned cypress wood today, but the wood was made more than 10 years ago and was owned by the owner of the mountain. There was also, and manufacturing was done with such abundant materials.
It has a urethane finish, which is rare for Pint!, but it faithfully reproduces the original specifications in terms of shape and finish. During the event period, it was very popular and sold out depending on the size, but we will introduce only a few leftovers at the time of sale.
▼ State of the event
2016.5.9 (mon) – 5.24 (tue) Green tourism in Tokyo Shinjuku Isetan Main Building 5F
▼ Rough sawn wood
Japanese cypress bowl rough ground stock
It's not as small as a hot water cup, but the size of a small soup bowl. It's cute and unusual size. Recommended uses include small soup bowls, small bowls, granola, and serving fruit. Easy to use, recommended.
Because it is a urethane finish, it is not recommended for hot drinks (we use safe urethane for tableware), but the fact that it can be used easily with wet items while preserving the grain and color of the wood is one of the advantages of using a urethane finish. There are good points. Recommended for those who like the form, size and appearance.
