Indigo-dyed organic linen handkerchief |
Indigo-dyed handkerchiefs are especially popular in summer. Does the cool indigo color and the gradation of the tie-dye pattern make you feel summer?
At first glance, indigo looks similar to navy blue, but the color is completely different between natural indigo dyeing and chemical dyeing. Today, I will introduce the difference between indigo dyeing and chemical dyeing. Here, I would like to write about the image of dyeing and how to feel the color, not the dyeing method or chemical content.
First, in the case of natural dyeing, it takes time (of course, it takes time and effort), and the image is that the color matures while repeating various reactions of nature. (For details on dyeing, please see the Indigo dyeing introduction page ).
Dyeing with chemical dyes, on the other hand, is an image of dyeing the fabric with the dye color as it is. Depending on the thread and fabric, the appearance of the color will change somewhat, but if there is a color number, it feels like the color number is included in the fabric.
It's not that chemical dyes are bad, but these differences are related to the depth of color. (Words will inevitably become abstract expressions). Natural indigo dyeing contains red, blue, and yellow, so to speak, and various colors overlap to create that indigo color. On the other hand, the navy blue color of the dye is dyed into the fabric. You can really see the difference when you look at it in natural light or let the fabric flutter a little. Depending on how the light hits it, it can look reddish, so it is quite difficult to photograph genuine indigo dyeing.
Of course, it does not mean that this color is good because there are different angles where it looks reddish and others where it looks bluish. But there are also good things. That is, do not fight with other colors. So-called dark blue and navy are quite strong colors, and it is often difficult to match them, but the colors of this indigo dyeing match with various colors such as red and yellow.

If you use it as a handkerchief, you don't need to coordinate it, but it's interesting to see it in this way. Some of our customers who have purchased this product wear it around their neck like a bandana.
Another nice point is that the color is dark and deep, yet clear. It's hard to explain, so I'd like you to see the real thing. The indigo color is pleasing to the eye, and the fabric is organic linen, making it a comfortable handkerchief every time you use it.
For the first few washes, wash separately from normal laundry or run through water. There is no discoloration like so-called denim jeans. Please see the product page for details on dyeing, products, and handling methods. There is also a variation of the iris pattern.
