Q.Is the wood grain of the zelkova tea caddy turned on a potter's wheel connected to the lid?
A. Regarding the lid and the main body, they are basically made from the same solid zelkova wood, so the wood grain of the lid and the main body are almost connected.
"Almost" means that in production, the wood on the cylinder is first cut into the lid and the main body, and then the inside of each is ground (shaving).
Therefore, the wood grain on the top of the main body and the bottom of the lid match. (It is not perfect because the thickness of the blade is shaved when cutting.)
When the lid is placed over the main body, the wood grain seems to match but it doesn't.
There are many customers who come to pick up our wood at events, etc., and see it strangely, saying that the wood grain does not match, and there is a reason for this manufacturing method. I just received an inquiry from a customer, so I introduced it.
If you know these things and see them, the manufacturing process and the amazing technology behind it will become more interesting. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
